The Why February Foundation was established in honor of Colonel John H. McPhaul Jr., who passed away on February 28, 2021, due to gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. John deeply valued education and to continue his legacy, proceeds will support the Colonel John H. McPhaul Jr. Memorial Endowed Scholarship at North Carolina Agriculture and Technical State University as well as to support further research for H. Pylori. The foundation is dedicated to advocating for increased studies and more frequent testing for H. Pylori bacteria in Black male veterans to enhance the detection, treatment and prevention of GI cancer.
