The Why February Foundation was established in honor of Colonel John H. McPhaul Jr., who passed away on February 28, 2021, due to gastrointestinal (GI) cancer. The foundation is dedicated to advocating for increased studies and more frequent testing for H. Pylori bacteria in Black male veterans to enhance the detection, treatment and prevention of GI cancer.
